Prime Minister Orders Immediate Restoration of Closed Power Plants, Demands Report on Load Shedding

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif demanded immediate report on load shedding and ordered immediate restoration of closed power plants. A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in which issues related to overcoming power load shedding were discussed. The Prime Minister ordered immediate restoration of closed power plants and demanded an immediate report on load shedding.

During the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that the reasons for load shedding should be clearly stated. Issues related to provision of drinking water and agricultural facilities to the provinces should be resolved on priority basis. It should be noted that the energy crisis has been suffocating the people across the country, load shedding is going on for 14 hours in different areas, power shortfall has reached 7,787 MW.

Power outage in Karachi has robbed the citizens of peace of day and peace of night. In most areas, power outages have become a nightmare for cities. The duration of power outage in the city exceeded 10 to 12 hours. Various areas of Orangi, Liaqatabad, Ancholi Society, Malir are in the grip of power crisis. Power outages have become commonplace in PIB, Lanzaria and Surjani Town.

K Electric denied reports of change in electricity rates. A spokesman for Electric said there was no change in electricity rates for consumers, subject to approval from NEPRA and the government. Tariffs are shared on K Electric’s website.
