IG Punjab Clarifies Reports of 5 Consecutive Holidays for Educational Institutes In Punjab

Dr. Usman Anwar, the Inspector General of Punjab, wants to make it clear that schools, colleges, and universities in all cities of the province will remain open. This comes in response to rumors on social media and some news outlets suggesting that educational institutions might be closed from January 25 to January 29, 2024, due to a security threat.

However, Dr. Usman Anwar has denied these reports, stating that there is no security threat. He assured everyone that all educational institutions will continue their normal operations. The IG emphasized that no official order has been issued to close any school or college in the province.

Following the IG’s statement, students in various cities, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Faisalabad, can attend their classes according to the regular schedule. Dr. Usman Anwar called the news about the closure of educational institutes fake and expressed disapproval of the misuse of online platforms for spreading false rumors.

Furthermore, the IG warned of legal action against those spreading misinformation on social media platforms.
